About the Owner

I worked for nationally renowned consulting and R&D firms prior to starting JM Corliss & Associates in 2006. Starting at Battelle Memorial Institute, my work focused on energy and thermal systems such as solar, HVAC, refrigeration, heat pipes, radioisotope thermoelectric generators, and combustion systems. Combustion equipment included restaurant equipment, home appliances, industrial processes and HVAC equipment utilizing liquid, solid and gaseous fuels.

I left Battelle to take the position of Director of Engineering responsible for all engineering activities at multiple operating companies of a food service equipment group. From there, I moved to Arthur D. Little, Inc. in Cambridge, MA where I provided consulting and engineering services to several different clients within the food service, appliance and other industries.

I left Arthur D. Little prior to its bankruptcy and took the position of Vice President and General Manager of a consulting firm in the Cleveland, OH area. There, my group focused on combustion, energy and manufacturing topics. Our clients were appliance and HVAC manufacturers, restaurant chains and their first-tier suppliers.

I returned to the Boston area and accepted a position at a high-technology engineering group in the Boston area where the work was focused on cryogenics, cogeneration, and combined heat and power systems along with commercial appliances for the quick-serve restaurant industry.

I left that firm in 2006 to start JM Corliss & Associates. Since then, I have consulted mainly with the commercial food service industry, but have also enjoyed relationships with various Government agencies, law firms, and several manufacturing companies outside of food service such as agricultural processing, HVAC and grocery store suppliers.

Reliability enhancement has become a major focus of work at JM Corliss & Associates engaging with clients on Six Sigma reliability improvement projects and lean manufacturing projects. I am trained to the Black Belt Level in Lean Six Sigma. In addition, I am a licensed Professional Engineer in Massachusetts. I became a licensed engineer in Ohio by examination where I earned the highest score in the state on the examination that year. My registration was granted in Massachusetts based on an excellent work history.

I have applied my experience in engineering design, product development, manufacturing and problem solving on various assignments as an expert witness. My cases to date have focused on patent infringement, personal injury and project liability. I have authored several expert reports and expert rebuttal reports and have deposition and trial experience.
